Maciej Kubiak

Attorney at law, managing partner at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. He specialises in copyright, media, film and press law, IT and new technologies, advertising and industrial property, and protection of personal rights. Represents clients in court disputes related to the protection of intellectual property, reputation and in commercial matters.

He has carried out dozens of legal services projects for film and television productions, including high-budget international co-productions. He has advised numerous producers, music and book publishers, concert organisers, advertising and public relations agencies, IT companies and media houses. He consults on projects related to innovation, implementation of automation and robotics, personal data, new technologies and commercialisation of scientific research. He supports clients in matters related to fighting unfair competition. He has assisted in cross-border licensing projects and the entry of new brands onto the Polish market, including new TV channels.

Since 2022 he has co-founded the SKP law firm, where he is the managing partner. For 14 years he was associated with the LSW law firm, where from 2012 he was a partner co-heading the IP/TMT practice and was responsible for Legal Tech and cyber security. Previously, he gained experience, among others, in the intellectual property department of the law firm Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak.

Maciej Ślusarek

Attorney at law, managing partner at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. He specialises in intellectual property law, new technologies, image protection, IT, reputation and good name protection, privacy and personal data. His trademark is precedent-setting litigation and trials concerning the protection of the reputation of individuals and corporations. Due to his experience in this area, he often advises on public image issues and its protection.

He has advised on hundreds of the biggest artistic and production projects in Poland. He has carried out projects for producers, artists, book and press publishers, advertising agencies, public relations and media houses. A talented negotiator – for his clients he signs the best contracts, supports them in the sale and licensing of copyright and related rights, as well as assists in legal issues related to the development, production and broadcast of commercials and their protection against unfair competition. He has worked on transactions related to the emergence and operation of new media and on a number of online ventures.

Since 2022, he has co-founded the SKP law firm, where he is the managing partner. Previously, he held this position at the LSW law firm, of which he was a co-founder.

 Maciej Dudek

Partner at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. Specialises in copyright law, IT and new technologies, personal data protection, film and press law, advertising law and protection of personal rights. Represents clients in court disputes related to the protection of personal rights.

He specialises in intellectual property law, in particular copyright law, advertising law, as well as unfair competition, consumer rights, protection of personal rights and e-commerce.

He advises clients on the implementation of IT solutions, starting with bidding procedures for the selection of a supplier, through preparation and negotiation of implementation and service agreements. He has completed a number of complex projects in the field of IT systems implementation.

He provides comprehensive advice on personal data protection, including auditing personal data processing activities, development and implementation of documentation, as well as representing clients before the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection.

He also provides legal services to clients in the field of protection of personal rights, representing them before courts in cases of violation of personal rights of both natural and legal persons.

For the last 5 years he has been involved in the IP/TMT practice of LSW.

Katarzyna Lejman

Partner at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. Katarzyna specialises in civil law, intellectual property law and issues concerning the fight against unfair competition. She advises on the protection of personal rights and provides legal support in managing media crises. She is a valued litigator, entrusted with the protection of their intellectual property rights and personal rights by numerous clients: advertising agencies, media houses, representatives of the creative and scientific industries, companies from the IT services, pharmaceutical and medical device markets, politicians and social organisations.

She gained her professional experience in reputable Warsaw law firms specialising in intellectual property law, e-commerce and litigation law.  Her professional successes and social activity have been recognised by the competition chapter of the jubilee 10th edition of the “Rising Stars Attorneys – leaders of tomorrow 2021” competition organised by Wolters Kluwer Polska. She received 2nd place in the competition.

 Hanna Marcinkiewicz-Grzesiak

Partner at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. She specialises in intellectual property law and image protection, as well as protection of reputation, good name, privacy and personal data. She successfully represents clients in cases of the so-called media crises, at the pre-trial stage and during court proceedings. She supports PR departments and PR agencies in developing media strategies for both public sector clients and private entities.

On a daily basis she supports entities from the creative and entertainment industry, including, among others, film and television producers, production houses, media houses, and book publishers. Thanks to the services provided to Polish and international advertising agencies, as well as marketing and influencer marketing departments, she also has extensive experience in advertising and marketing law. She advises trade organisations bringing together entities from the advertising and marketing industry, e.g. she prepares and gives her opinion on draft regulations concerning these entities.

Her interests also include fashion law, consumer protection law and combating unfair competition.

Piotr Nikołajuk

Partner at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. He specialises in intellectual property law, in particular copyright law, as well as media and advertising law.

Provides ongoing legal services to television and film producers, advertising agencies and publishing houses. He has represented individuals and legal entities in disputes concerning the protection of personal rights and copyright infringement.

In his daily work he cooperates with both producers and creators, at all stages of creation and exploitation of documentary productions, series, entertainment programmes, films and animations, supporting them in the area of acquisition of rights, licensing and day-to-day services and challenges posed by the audiovisual industry. Working as an “entertainment lawyer” he advises clients on copyright clearance, legal risk assessment, cross-border negotiations and support in obtaining project financing, putting the success of entrusted cases and his clients’ interests first.

For many years dedicated to the audiovisual production industry, focusing not only on legal aspects but also on practical challenges of production organisation.

In his practice to date, he has created or negotiated numerous development, option, rights acquisition, licensing and format agreements, as well as created the legal framework for co-productions and domestic and international services for both Polish and foreign producers.

Piotr gained his professional experience working with a leading US law firm serving companies operating in the entertainment and digital media markets. He has participated in projects regarding the acquisition of original and existing content – for TV channels and VOD service providers.

Paweł Myrda

Partner at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. Paweł specialises in intellectual property law, in particular copyright, as well as protection of personal rights of individuals and business entities.

Provides ongoing legal services to film and television producers, in particular comprehensive support for film and television productions. He prepares and negotiates contracts, including co-production and distribution agreements and agreements with filmmakers. He also deals with negotiations and court proceedings concerning the production and distribution of audiovisual works, with an emphasis on attempts to resolve them amicably.

His professional portfolio includes high-budget productions realised by the biggest producers in Poland, both state-owned and private.

As part of his specialisation he also represents filmmakers and musicians in their relations with producers, studios and marketing agencies and advises them on their image issues, including litigation for infringement of personal rights.

Ewa Karwowska

Senior associate at SKP Ślusarek Kubiak Pieczyk. She specialises in intellectual property law, in particular copyright and advertising law.

She has experience in copyright law, legal service of films and TV commercials, and has worked with some of the biggest music labels, TV producers and film distributors on the market.

Her professional portfolio also includes negotiating copyright agreements, providing legal services for films and TV commercials, negotiating co-production and distribution agreements in Polish and English, and drafting and providing opinions on copyright agreements, e.g. with co-writers, actors, music licences, co-production agreements and distribution agreements.

She cooperates with production managers, executive producers and other members of the film crew during the shooting of films, provides legal advice to production managers and executive producers during the shooting of films, drafts pleadings, legal opinions and registers trademarks in Poland. She also represents clients in court in civil and commercial matters.

Katarzyna Drapała
