The register of financial support kept by the Polish Film Institute shows that the first applications for financial support this year were placed on a reserve list. This means that the pool of funds provided in 2022 for this form of support for producers of audiovisual works is about to be used up.
Under the system adopted in the Law of 9 November 2018 on financial support for audiovisual production, producers, co-producers and entities providing a service for audiovisual production interested in obtaining financial support for audiovisual production carried out in Poland may seek reimbursement of 30% of Polish eligible costs, except that Polish eligible costs, which form the basis for calculating financial support, may not exceed 80% of the total costs of audiovisual production.
The current level of total financial support granted in 2022 is PLN 19,751,022.18. The remainder of the funds is “reserved” for applications that have not yet been recognised. This means that entities on the reserve list still have a real chance to obtain support, while it is a strong signal that the pool designated for 2022 is about to be run out.
If the funds are completely exhausted this year, obtaining financial support will only be possible on the basis of applications submitted from 1 January 2023.
