Polish film makers have once again triumphed in Berlin. This year during the International Film Festival in Berlin, where the film had its first night, “Twarz” directed by Małgorzata Szumowska won the Silver Bear, the Grand Prix awarded by the Jury. Our team was represented by Marta Galińska and Piotr Nikołajuk, who were both present at the first night in Berlin. The Silver Bear statue was collected by Małgorzata Szumowska.
,,The Face” is a contemporary tale about a man who loses his face in an accident. He is forced to undergo pioneering face transplant operations. After his surgery and recovery he returns to his small hometown, where his distinct appearance provokes various reactions in people. The film is about the everyday problems of communities, presented in a unique, interesting and frequently surprising way.
It is a bitter-sweet story with elements of comedy, and the universal tale about anxiety and fear of things unfamiliar, about tradition and modernity, the need for freedom, love and prospects for the future.
The work is complemented by the original photography by Michał Englert and outstanding makeup by Waldemar Pokromski.
The main roles are played by Mateusz Kościukiewicz, Agnieszka Podsiadlik and Małgorzata Gorol.
Marta Galińska and Maciej Kubiak from our film team provided legal assistance to the company Nowhere sp. z.o.o., the producer of the film, starting from the development phase.
In the cinemas from the 6th of April!
